Dads and dagginess go together. There’s the distinct brand of Dad humour. And when it comes to dancing, there’s a particular suite of Dad moves.
Enter Ausdance Victoria, which is unveiled a new program during the Arts Learning Festival called Teaching Dad to Dance.
Developed with the support of Independent Schools Victoria and the Arts Learning Festival, Teaching Dad to Dance is a dance program where primary school students become the teachers. The students will show their ability to comprehend the basics of the dance moves by teaching others these moves.
Teaching Dad to Dance was previewed during a full-day choreography and skills workshop for teachers as part of the Arts Learning Festival.
The workshop provided skills for the generalist and specialist teacher to engage students through the magic of dance choreography and performance.
Teachers discovered the tools to help them put together effective dance routines that surprise and please audiences, challenge and reward students, and are safe and ethically appropriate.
