Target audience: all ages

Victorian schools are home to a remarkable array of student talent, and we want to give Melbourne the chance to enjoy and appreciate it.

As part of the festival activities at Birrarung Marr near Federation Square, we are inviting schools to perform on the Festival Showcase Stage. We’d like to wow Melbourne with the best in performing arts – music, dance, drama or spoken word.

Selected acts will be given a 10-minute performance slot on the stage on the weekend of the festival.

Anne Smith, the festival’s curator and Art Education Programs Manager at Independent Schools Victoria, says the stage will be a wonderful opportunity for students and schools.

‘We know that performance is one of the major functions of the arts, along with the visual world,’ says Anne. ‘And many artforms these days are a combination of several types of art.

‘For our festival stage, we’ll be looking at any performance really, whether it’s musical, dance or dramatic.

‘We are inviting schools from all sectors to take part and present a work to our festival audiences. ‘
