Target audience: all ages
Do it on the Roof are green infrastructure specialists who are passionate about turning Victoria greener, through innovative approaches such as gardens on roofs and vertical walls.
At Birrarung Marr near Federation Square during the festival, Do it on the Roof will run student workshops on Wednesday 3 May, Thursday 4 May and Friday 5 May. On the weekend, they will run free family workshops on Saturday 6 May and Sunday 7 May.
The team is also asking people to help build a wonderful vertical garden using plastic bottles. We’re inviting people to bring along a plant cutting and a plastic bottle. At a potting station, the team will help you cut out the bottle, plant the cutting and attach it to the wall. Find out what to bring along!
You’ll also be able to see some how ‘junk’ such as old CD players are repurposed as planters, showing what you can grow in some surprising places.
