Art of Listening

Target audience: Upper Primary Students, Teachers, Families

‘Music affects our inner worlds.’ This is the idea explored by the Art of Listening workshops, which have run as part of the Edinburgh International Festival for more than 20 years.

During the workshops, students, teachers and the families will have the rare opportunity to experience a professional singer and accompanist perform classical music. Listening exercises and fun drawing tasks help strengthen listening skills, imagination and sense of self.

The student and family workshops are at the Melbourne Recital Centre, while the teacher workshops are at Australian National Academy of Music in South Melbourne.

This highly regarded, successful international program was brought to Melbourne by Independent Schools Victoria in May 2016, and we’re thrilled to enable more Victorian students to experience the Art of Listening at the Arts Learning Festival in 2017.
